WordPress is open-source software. It is written in PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and uses a database to store all of its data.

Since it’s web-based, you need a web host to install and run it. You can also develop it locally on your computer by installing local servers and then uploading the finished website to permanent hosting once the development locally has been completed.

WordPress is extremely versatile and can be used for many types of projects, including:

  • Building a business website
  • Creating an online store
  • Building your social network
  • Building a classified or membership website

The possibilities are endless. As long as you have good web hosting, WordPress is the only tool you need to get started creating a fully functional website. There are also countless free videos and tutorials available online to help you learn how to use it!
